Subject: Resignation from Disabilities Commission
Dear Council Members:
More than 15 years ago, it was my pleasure to help a small group of concerned
residents with disabilities (and without disabilities) advocate for, and ultimately
achieve, a Santa Monica Disabilities Commission.
For the last 14 years or so, it has been my pleasure to serve on the Commission,
a few years as Chair, and assist the City to become more accessible and more aware of
the needs of residents and visitors with physical and mental disabilities. The City
staff and Council have been very responsive and supportive, and for that, we are all
grateful. Fvery time my girls and I bike past the universally accessible playground at
South Beach Park (and hopefully future accessible Santa Monica playgrounds), I will
be pleasantly reminded of our work together.
Due to work and family commitments, I am no longer able to serve on the
Disabilities Commission, and therefore, must resign. Thank you for the opportunity
to serve the City and the Council for these many years. Please continue your strong
support for the Disabilities Commission and continue to improve the quality of life
for our friends and neighbors with disabilities.
Sincerely,
Christopher H. alf
P.S. Great comments for South Beach Park on Yelp!
