Bid No. 1423. '
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid in the total amount of $33,659.52
including applicable tax for one (1) 40,000 GVW diesel truck chassis with
tilt cab. This purchase will be charged to account 01- 500 -441 -000 -950,
Sanitation Department Capital Outlay, and is part of the $94,500.00
budgeted for vehicle aquisition this year.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver this
three -axle truck in accordance with City specifications, bids were received
and publicly opened and read January 18, 1979. Proposal packages were
mailed to nineteen (19) truck dealers and notices were advertised in acc-
ordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions.. Two (2) proposals
were received. The bid of Crenshaw Motors, Inc., in the amount of
$27,931.00, is considered to be nonresponsive in that a two -axle chassis
was proposed rather than a three -axle as specified in the bid document.
Crenshaw Motors also dis not submit the required bid bond. Carmenita Ford
Truck Sales, Inc. submitted a bid of $31,754.27 plus $1,905.25 tax, total
$33,659.52, for a 1979 Ford C -8000. Terms are net and delivery is 90 -120
Days.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Carmenita Ford Truck Sales, Inc.,
as the lowest and best bidder, in the total amount of $33,659.52, including
tax.
