SUBJECTS: Recommendation to amend .bid award for transit buses,
Bid No. 1387
Introduction
This report concerns amendment of bid award from twelve (12) 40 -fo6t andF'r.u.��i
five (5) 35 -foot advanced design transit buses to seventeen (17) 40 -foot
advanced design transit buses.
The total additional cost will be $10,308.50 including applicable sales
tax. This change shall be contingent upon approval by the Urban Mass
Transportation Administration. If approved, eighty per cent (80 %) of the
total amount will be paid by UMTA and the remaining twenty per cent (20 %)
will be paid with funds made available through the State Transportation
Development Act allocated to the City for bus purchases.
Background
Since the original award was made by Council September 12, 1978,the
Transportation Department has experienced increased patronage on lines
previously served by the shorter buses to the extent that the larger buses
are now used on these routes. It is considered that this award amendment
will be in the interest of both bus patrons and transit revenues.
Grumman - Flxible Corporation has agreed to this change subject to City
Council and UMTA approval.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award for twelve (12) 40 -foot and five (5)
35 -foot buses be amended to seventeen (17) 40 -foot transit buses.
