SUBJECT: Recommendation to,award bid for detector check valves.
Bid No. 1420,
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for detector check valves in the
total amount of $23,531.82, including tax. Funds are available in
account number 38- 955 - 200 - 000 -000, Water Department Revolving Inventory.
These valves are charged to individual work order accounts as issued.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver
detector check valves in accordance with City specifications, bids were
received and publicly opened and read in the office of the City Manager
December 14, 1978. Proposal forms were mailed to twenty -eight (28)
prospective bidders and notices were advertised in accordance with City
Charter and Municipal code provisions. Six (6) proposals were received
as listed on the attached Summary of Bids. The cash discount offered
was a factor in ascertaining the lowest bidder for Items l and 3.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award for Items 1 and 3 be made to Taylor -
Jett Company, in the amount of $13,688.71, and to Telford Smith Supply
Company for Items 2 and 4, in the amount of $9,843.11, as the lowest
and best bidders. These amounts include sales tax.
