SUBJECT: Recommendation to accept bids for real property.
Bid No. 1401
Introduction
This report concerns acceptance of a bid of $33,000.00 for City
owned real estate located southwest of the corner of 24th Street
and Delaware Avenue. The area is approximately 977 square feet ( + / -).
A Plat is attached. This land was deeded to the City by the State of
California after re- alignment of Delaware Avenue in conjunction with
building of the Santa Monica Freeway.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids for this property,
bids were received and publicly opened and read in the City Council
Chambers October 2, 1978. Proposals were distributed to twenty -five
(25) propective bidders and notices were advertised in accordance
with municipal code and city charter provisions. Two (2) bids were
received.
The highest sealed bid received was $12,100.00. In accordance with
the bid provisions, a follow -on auction was conducted. The highest
bid for this property, $33,000.00, was made by Southern California
Disposal Company. This represents a price of $33.78 per square foot.
Since this property is small and of irregular shape, there are no
recent sales in the private sector whith which to compare.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the bid of Southern California Disposal
Company in the amount of $33,000.00 be accepted as the highest and
best bid.
