SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for abrasive blast equipment.

Introduction
This report concerns award of bid in the amount of $2,809.00,
including tax, for one (1) modular dry -blast abrasive cabinet to
be used in refurbishing water meters. This is an additional
machine. Funds are available in Job Order Account 67900 -030,
Miscellaneous Distribution Equipment, which is budgeted at $17,995.00.
Background
In response tp published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver
the equipment in accordance with specifications, bids were received
and publicly opened and read in the office of the City Manager
October 3, 1978. Proposal forms were mailed to twenty -three (23)
prospective bidders and notices were advertised in accordance with
city charter and municipal code provisions. Four (4) bids were
received complying with stated requirements and two (2) bids were
received which did not comform. All bids are listed on the attached

Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Viets Engineering Company,
as the lowest qualified bidder, in the total amount of $2,809.00,
including tax.
