SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for water service supplies.
Bid No. 1412,
Introduction
This report concerns award of bids in the amount of $78,552.65,
including sales tax, for water service supplies. Funds are available
in account number 38- 955 - 200 - 000 -000, Water Department Revolving
Inventory. These supplies are charged to individual work order
accounts as issued.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver
water service supplies in accordance with City specifications, bids
were received and publicly opened and read in the office of the City
Manager November 14, 1978. Proposal packages were mailed to thirty -one
(31) prospective bidders and notices were advertised in accordance with
City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Three (3) responsive bids
were received as listed on the attached Summary. The bid by Parkson,
Inc., listed for purposes of comparison, is considered non - responsive
in that the required bid deposit and affidavit were not supplied. The
asterisks ( *) on the Summary indicate the lowest bidder as to.each
item and for which purchase is recommended. It is considered to be in
the City's best interest to readvertise for the items not recommended.
The City's right to award as to each item is a stated condition of the
bid proposal.

It is recommended that the awards be made to Clow Corporation and
Taylor -Jett Company, as the lowest and best bidders, as follows:
