SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for steam cleaner,
Bid. No.1393.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid in the amount of $4,381.24,
including tax, for one (1) automotive steam cleaner. $5,000.00
has been budgeted for this purchase in Transportation Department
account number 97- 600 - 651 - 000 -241, Shop and Garage Equipment.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and
deliver a steam cleaner in accordance with.City specifications,
bids were received and publicly opened and read in the office of
the City Manager August 17, 1978. Proposal packages were mailed
to twenty (20) potential bidders and notices were advertised in
accordance with city charter and municipal code provisions.
Three (3) bids were received as listed on the attached summary.
The parts and repair costs incurred during the past year for the
present steam cleaner indicated that this unit is no longer
ecconomically feasible to retain and that the trade -in option
should be exercised.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Allied- kelite Products
Division, as the lowest and best bidder, in the total amount of $4,381.24.
