Bid No. 1354.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to supply transit mix concrete 61.3
as ordered by the City during the period July 1, 1978 through June
30, 1979. This award shall be subject to the availability of funds
in the budget approved for the impending fiscal year. It is esti-
mated that this award, chargeable to account 44- 500 - 421 - 000 -414
(Street and Road Materials), will not exceed Eighteen Thousand
Dollars ($18,000.00).
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to supply concrete
mix in accordance with specifications, one (1) proposal was received
and publicly opened and read in the office of the City Manager May
2, 1978. Proposal forms were mailed to twenty (20) concrete suppliers
and notices were advertised in accordance with city charter and muni-
cipal code provisions. The sole bid was received from Brown Company,
dba Livingston- Graham, the current supplier. The company operates a
plant in Santa Monica. Prices quoted were $31.45 per cubic yard
delivered and $27.45 per cubic yard for plant pick up. Sales tax
is to be added.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made, subject to budget approval,
to Brown Company, dba Livingston- Graham, the sole bidder, in the
estimated total amount of $18,000.00, including applicable tax.
