SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for typerwiter maintenance and
repair service. Bid No. 1381.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for yearly typewriter maintenance
and repair service for the next fiscal year in the estimated maximum
amount of $13,000.00. Using department accounts will be charged
individually according to number and type of machines registered in
this program.
Background
The City has approximately 125 electric and 60 manual typewriters in
its inventory. The majority of the electric machines are manufactured
by International Business Machines and are currently serviced by
IBM. The present cost, depending upon model, is either $60.00 or
$65.00 per year. In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to
provide the specified typewriter service, proposals were received and
publicly opened and read in the office of the City Manager June 6,
1978. Proposal forms were mailed to twenty (20) office machine ser-
vice companies and notices were published in accordance with city
charter and municipal code provisions. Ten (10) bids were received
as listed on the attached summary of bids. Amounts listed are yearly
charges per machine.
Recommendation
It,is recommended that the award be made to Culver City Office
Products, Inc., as the lowest and best bidder, in the estimated
maximum amount of $13,000.00

(Bid No. 1381) for typewriter maintenance and repair service to Culver
City Office Products in the amount of $13,000.00 for the fisal year
1978 -79. After discussion Councilmember Reed moved to award Contract
No. 3030(CCS) to Culver City Office Products by issuance of P. 0. No.
37369 in the amount of $13,000.00 for typewriter maintenance and repair
service for fiscal year 1978 -79. Second by Councilmember van den
Steenhoven.
Council Vote: Unanimously approved 6 -0
