SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for paper towels and tissue.
Bid No. 1356.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to supply the City's estimated
paper towel and toilet tissue requirements during the period July 1,
1978 through June 30, 1979, in the total amount of $22,238.69, in-
cluding applicable tax. Funds are budgeted in account 99- 955 -010-
000 -000, Warehouse Revolving Account. Individual operating accounts
are charged as these supplies are issured.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver
the specified paper products during the next fiscal year, proposals
were received and publicly opened and read in the office of the City
Manager May 11, 1978. Proposal forms were mailed to twenty -seven (27)
sanitary paper suppliers and notices were advertised in accordance
with city charter and municipal code provisions. Eight (8) respon-
sive bids were received as listed on the attached summary. Due to
the variation in pieces or pounds per case offered, some of the
prices shown reflect adjustment to the case size specified. The bid
of Vernon Sanitation Supply for Item Three is the lowest after the
cash discount is applied.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Cal -Wipe, Inc., as the
lowest and best bidder, for Items One and Two in the total amount

of $20,720.88, and to Vernon Sanitation Supply Co., as the lowest
and best bidder for Item Three, in the total amount of $1517.81.
