SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for stationery supplies.
Bid No. 1345.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver stationery
and office supplies for a one -year period beginning April 15, 1978,
in an estimated total amount of 525,000,00. Funds are available in
individual departmental accounts which are charged according to
usage. Initial purchase is made within revolving account number
99- 995 - 030 - 000 -000, Stationery, Office and Miscellaneous Supplies.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver
218 listed items, proposals were received and publicly opened and
read in the office of the City Manager March 21, 1978. Proposal
forms were mailed to twenty (20) vendors of these supplies and
notices were advertised in accordance with city charter and municinal
code provisions. Four (4) proposals were received, three (3) of
which offered an alternate to the City's one year /fixed price
provision. These proposals were:

Pioneer Stationers 33 Firm for 90 Days with option
to renew.
Boise - Cascade 30 Firm for 10 Weeks. Subject
to change (with prior notice)
thereafter.
Eastman, Inc. 29 Firm for one year.
It is considered that the City's best interest will. be served by
purchasing from the lowest bidder on fifty -five per cent (55 %,)
of the items for a guaranteed six -month period. Subsequent price
increases, if any. will be reviewed to insure purchases being made
at the lowest prevailing market price.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Stationers Corporation,
the lowest bidder, in the estimated total amount of 525,000.00.
