Bid No. 1430.
Introduction
This report concerns acceptance of a bid of $12,500.00 for City -owned
real estate located on the corner of Hollister Street and Neilson Way.
The area is 1,932 ( + / -) square feet, zoning is R -3. A Plat is attached.
This land is an unused portion of the Pacific Electric right of way
conversion to Neilson Way.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids for this property, one (1)
bid was received and publicly opened and read in the City Council
Chambers February 28, 1979. Proposal packages were mailed to seventy -
five (75) prospective bidders and notices were advertised in accordance
with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. No follow -on auction
was requested by any person present. The sole bidder, Max and Florence
Ganezer, are the owners of adjacent property and have stated that their
immediate plans are to fence the area, plant grass and erect a wall to
allow a more desirable area for their existing tenants. The large trees
on the parcel will be retained. This parcel alone is not a buildable
site. The bid represents an offer of $6.46 per square foot. The right
of way was acquired in 1949 at a cost of $ .496 per square foot.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the bid of Max and Florence Ganezer, in the
amount of $12,500.00 be accepted as the highest and best bid.
