This report concerns award of bid in the total amount of $14,101.00,
including tax, for asbestos cement pipe, couplings and coupling
lubricant, $938,10 will be charged to work order account 64060 -000,
Distribution Mains Repair, Annual, and $13,162.90 will be charged to
account number 38- 955 - 200 - 000 -000, Water Department Revolving Inventory.
This material is charged to individual work order accounts as issued.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver
twenty -three (23) water supply items in accordance with City specif-
ications, proposals were received and publicly opened and read
February 15, 1979, Proposal packages were mailed to twenty -one (21)
prospective suppliers and notices were advertised in accordance with
City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Three (3) bids were received
as listed on the attached Summary. With the exception of Item 23, the
recommendation is made on the basis of lowest price for each item. In
the case of Item 23, it is considered that the $16.70 total difference
between the lowest and second lowest bidder does not justify cost of
issuing and administering a separate purchase order for this one item.
