SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for parking structure custodial
maintenance, Bid No.1428
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for parking structure custodial main-
tenance for a three -year period beginning March 15, 1979, in the initial
yearly amount of $29,280.00. This amount is subject to adjustment yearly
on the basis of percentage of change in the Consumer Price Index (for
Urban Wage Erners and Clerical Workers, 1967 = 100) for Los Angeles,
California are available in account number 40- 500 - 412 - 000 -691, Maintenance
of Parking Structures 1 through 6.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids for parking structure
custodial service, bids were received and publicly opened and read
February 13, 1979. Proposal forms were mailed to sixty (60) janitorial
service contractors and notices were advertised in accordance with City
Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Four (4) bids were received.

Each of the bidders agreed to grant a three -year optional extension,
effective March 15, 1982.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Transamerican Building
Maintenance Company, as the lowest and best bidder, in the total amount
of $29,280.00 and that the City Manager be authorized to execute the contract
