SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for plumbing service.

Introduction
This report concerns award of bid, in the amount of $16,400.00
including tax, for replacement of plumbing at Santa Monica Civic
Auditorium. Funds for this project are available in account
10- 400 -621- 000 -920, Auditorium Structures and Improvements.
Background
This project encompasses removal and replacement of all hot and
cold water lines with new copper lines from the main inlet to
fixtures throughout the building.
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to provide this
replacement service in accordance with specifications, two (2)
bids were received and publicly opened and read in the office of
the City Manager October 5, 1978. Proposal forms were mailed to
twenty -nine (29) plumbing companies and notices were advertised
in accordance with city charter and municipal code provisions.
The bids received were:
Dual Plumbing � Piping $16,400.00
Roy E. Smith Plumbing Co., Inc. 28,752.00
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Dual Plumbing and
Piping, as the lowest and best bidder, in the total amount of
$16,400.00, including tax.
