SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for bus time schedules.
Bid No. 1370.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to print bus time schedules as
required during the period July 1, 1978 through June 30, 1979. It
is estimated that the total purchase will not exceed $8,000.00.
Funds are available in account 35- 600 -654- 000 -450 (Transportation
Department Schedules).
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver
bus time schedules in quantities ordered by the City one (1) pro-
posal was received and publicly opened and read in the office of
the City Manager May 23, 1978. Proposal forms were mailed to
fourteen (14) printing establishments and notices were advertised
in accordance with city charter and municipal code provisions.
The current year supplier, Copy Kat Printers, submitted the sole
bid. Two (2) local printers who did not submit proposals were
called subsequent to the bid opening in an effort to ascertain
the reasons for the minimal response. Both indicated that recent
and anticipated increases in paper prices, as well as the possibility
of an industry -wide paper mill strike, made it impractical to bid
prices guaranteed for one year.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the bid for bus time schedules be awarded
to Copy Kat Printers in the estimated amount of $8,000.00, including
tax. �®
