SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for automotive equipment
Bid Number 1337.
Introduction��
This report concerns award of bid for eleven (11) vehicles and
rejection of all bids for two (2) vehicles. The total amount,
$58,690.46, including tax, is budgeted in the current capital
outlay accounts of the using departments.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish vehicles
in accordance with specifications supplied, bids were received and
publicly opened in the office of the City Manager February 21, 1978.
Proposal forms were mailed to forty -seven (47) dealerships and
notices were advertised in accordance with city charter and munici-
pal code provisions. Five (5) proposals were received. These are
listed on the attached Summary of Bids together with the prices for
comparable vehicles when purchased through the State of California
Cooperative purchasing program.
This Summary does not include the light utility trucks (Bid Item #7)
for the CETA Program. These are non - budgeted items and will be the
subject of a separate report.
The State prices for Items 5 and 6 are lower than any bids received.
The selection of the vendor for Item 2 reflects consideration of
the one per cent (1 %) sales tax return for vehicles purchased within
the City.

Recommendation
It is recommended that all bids for Items 5 and 6 be rejected and
that the award be made to the following dealers,.as the lowest and
best bidders, in the amounts indicated:
