SUBJECT: Recommendation for award of bid for infrared 'vi ewer.
Bid No. 1336.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for one (1) infrared viewing
device with accessories in the total amount of $6,004.90, including
tax. Funds for this purchase are available in account 01- 300 -311-
000 -950, Fire Department Capital Outlay.
Background
This device enables firemen to locate fires from the exterior of a
building, indicates walls which must be opened and potantial roof
weak spots, and spots inhalation victims in smoke - filled rooms.
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids, bids were received
and publicly opened and read in the office of the City Manager
February 9, 1978. Proposal forms were mailed to twenty -four (24)
potential suppliers and notices were advertised in accordance with
city charter and municipal code provisions. Three (3) proposals
were received as listed on the attached Summary of Bids.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Standard Law Enforcement
Supply Company, as the lowest and best bidder, in the total amount of
$6,004.90, including tax.
