SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for building security system.
Bid No. 1322,
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and install one (1)
security gate and four (4) coded door - release devices in the
Police building in the total amount of $3,986.60, including tax.
Funds are budgeted in work order account 78011 -000 for the gate and
78013 for the door controls.
Background
The door control devices consist of keyboards which, when the
proper sequence of digits is punched, will permit authorized persons
access to sensitive areas of the police building. This digital
sequence can be changed as required to maintain security. The
gate, also equipped with an entry device, will be installed to
limit entry to the second floor.
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and in-
stall the gate and locking devices in accordance with City speci-
fications, two (2) proposals were received and publicly opened
and read in the office of the City Manager October 27, 1977.
Proposal forms were mailed to eighteen (18) lock and /or security
companies and notices were advertised in accordance with city
charter and municipal code provisions.
