SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for transit bus transmissions.
Bid No. 1465.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid in the total amount of $15,529.00, in-
cluding applicable tax, for two (2) Allison V -730 D -8 Transmissions. These
transmissions are required to support the fleet of forty -seven (47) new
transit busses scheduled for delivery to the City. This purchase will be
charged to account number 36 -600- 651 - 000 -221, Transportation Department
Capital Outlay, and will be paid for from funds provided by the Urban Mass
Transportation Development Funds (SB 325), which have been allocated to
this account.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver two
(2) transmissions as specified, bids were received and publicly opened and
read June 12,1979. Proposal packages were mailed to eleven (11) prospec-
tive suppliers and notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter
and Municipal Code provisions. Three (3) bids were received:
