SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for sand, gravel and aggregates.
Bid No. 1440.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to supply sand, gravel and aggregates
as ordered by the City during the period July 1, 1979 through June 30,
1980. This award shall be subject to the availability of funds in the
budget approved for the impending fiscal year. The award, in the
estimated amount of $23,880.21, including tax, will be charged to account

Background
This material is used both as a tack coating for new paving and for sealing
existing asphalt concrete. Expenditures during the current year for this
emulsion have averaged approximately $300.00 per month. In response to
published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver nine (9) types of
road materials, one (1) bid was received and publicly opened and read
May 10, 1979, Proposal forms were mailed to seventeen (17) materials
companies and notices were advertised
in accordance
with City Charter and
Municipal Code
provisions.
