JUN 2 6 1979 Bid No. 1447. Introduction This report concerns award of bid for transit mobile radios in the total amount of $28,803.42, including installation and applicable tax. This purchase initially will be charged to account number 98 -600- 651 - 000 -263 (Transportation Department Communications Equipment). The City will be reimbursed $23,042.74 through an approved Federal Assistance Grant from the Urban Mass Transportation Administration. The balance of the funds ($5,760.68) will come from local Transportation Funds (SB325), derived from sales taxes collected within the county and allocated to the City for this purpose. Background The equipment under consideration consists of ten (10) mobile radios and two (2) portable transcievers to be incorporated into the present Trans- portation Department two -way radio system. In response to published Notice Inviting Bids for these radios, one (1) proposal was received and publicly opened and read May 15, 1979 Proposal packages were mailed to five (5) companies considered capable of furnishing this specialized equipment and notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Motorola Communications & Electronics, Inc., the manufacturer of the present system, submitted the sole bid in the amount of $28,803.42 ($27,471.00 plus $1,332.42 Tax) Terms are net. Recommendation It is recommended that the award be made to Motorola Communications and Electronics, Inc, in the total amount of $28,803.42, including tax. Prepared By: R.N.
