to award bid for paper towels and tissue.
Introduction
This report concerns award in the estimated total amount of $25,242.84,
including tax, for the City's paper towel and toilet tissue requirements
during the fiscal year 1979 -80. The purchases will be charged initially
to account number 99- 955 -010- 000 -000, Warehouse Inventory, and will be
charged to individual department operating accounts when these supplies
are issued.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver
the paper products during the next fiscal year, bids were received and
publicly opened and read May 29, 1979. Proposal packages were mailed
to forty -three (43) prospective suppliers and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Six (6)
responses were received as listed on the attached Summary of Bids. The
prices proposed all are firm through December 31, 1979, and thereafter
shall be subject to change on the basis of percentage of increase or
decrease in the Department of Labor Producer Price Index (Paper Goods).
The recommendation for Items One and Three are based upon the lowest
cost per individual towel. The recommendation for Item Two is based on
lowest cost per pound after cash discount is applied,
