SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for sawcutting service.
Bid No. 1463.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid in the total amount of $5,807.44 for
sawcutting approximately 2,536 lineal feet of paving on Pacific Coast
Highway. Funds for this project are budgeted in job order account
number 67112 -001 (Water Main Replacement, Appian Way & Pico).
Background'
This project consists of two (2) parallel cuts, each approximately 1268
feet long, on the west side of Pacific Coast Highway from street address
1335 to beneath the Santa Monica Pier overpass. The Paving consists of
a six -inch (6 ") top layer of asphalt and a six -inch (6")-bottom layer of
concrete. The work is limited to saw cutting only. City personnel will
remove paving material while excavating for the water main replacement.
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids for this sawcutting service,
bids were received and publicly opened and read June 5, 1979. Proposal
packages were mailed to twenty (20) prospective bidders and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
Four (4) bids were received as listed on the attached Summary of Bids.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Deanco Concrete Cutting, Inc.,
as the lowest and best bidder, in the total amount of $5,807.44.
