SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for sea water pump.
Bid No. 1441.
Introduction
MAY 2 2 1979
This report concerns award of bid for furnishing and installing one
(1) sea water pump on Santa Monica Pier in the total amount of $3,955.00,
including applicable tax. Funds for this purchase are available in
account number 10 -400, -622- 000 -950, Pier Capital Improvements. This pump
will be used for additional fire protection and for sea water flushing of
the pier and will be located next to the existing pump on the lower deck.

In response to published Notice Inviting Bids for installation of an
electric - powered pump in accordance with City specifications, one (1) bid
was received and publicly opened and read April 19, 1979. Proposal
packages were mailed to twenty -seven (27) potential bidders and notices
were published as required by the City Charter and Municipal Codes
provisions. McCalla Brothers submitted the sole bid of $3,955.00 including
tax. Terms are net. Completion is scheduled for thirty (30) days after
notification of award.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to McCalla Brothers, as the lowest
and best bidder, in the total amount of $3,955.00, including applicable tax.
