Introduction
i
This report concerns award of bid to supply asphaltic concrete mixes
for street maintenance as ordered by the City during the period July 1,
1979 through June 30, 1980. This award shall be subject to the avail-
ability of funds in the budget approved for the impending fiscal year.
It is estimated that this award, chargeable to account 01- 500 - 421 -000-
414, Street and Road Materials, will not exceed $87,265.00, including tax.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish four (4) items
of paving materials, two (2) proposals were received and publicly opened
and read May 8, 1979, Proposal packages were mailed to twenty -two (22)
asphalt companies and notices were advertised in accordance with City
Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Bids °were received from Industrial
Asphalt and from Blue Diamond Materials, the current supplier. Blue
Diamond Materials submitted the lowest bid for each item as indicated on
the attached Summary of Bids.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made, subject to availability of
funds in the approved budget, to Blue Diamond Materials, as the lowest
and best bidder on all items, in the estimated total amount of
$87,265.00, including tax.
