Bid No. 1437. i Introduction This report concerns award of bid to supply transit -mixed concrete as ordered by the City during the period July 1, 1979 through June 30, 1980. This award shall be subject to the availability of funds in the budget approved for the impending fiscal year. It is estimated that this award, chargeable to account 44- 500 - 421 -000 -414 (Street and Road Materials), will not exceed Nineteen Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($19,500.00), Background This concrete is used by the Street Department for sidewalk and curb re- pairs, thrust blocks for water transmission mains and miscellaneous pro- jects. Usage during the first nine (9) months of this year averaged forty -one (41) cubic yards per month. In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to supply concrete in accordance with specifications, one (1) proposal was received and publicly opened and read May 8, 1979. Proposal forms were mailed to nineteen (19) concrete suppliers and notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. The sole bid was received from Brown Company, dba Livingston- Graham, the current supplier. This company operates a plant in Santa Monica. Prices proposed were $36.68 per cubic yard delivered and $32.58 per cubic yard for pick ups at the plant. Sales tax is to be added to these prices. Recommendation It is recommended that the award be made, subject to budget approval, to Brown Company, dba Livingston- Graham, the sole bidder, in the estimated total amount of $19,500.00, including applicable tax.
