SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for auditorium door control
equipment. Bid No. 1324.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid, in the total amount of $5,337.00,
for installation of sixteen (16) bar -type door openers, repair of
seven (7) bar -type door openers, and replacement of twenty -eight
(28) floor type door closers at the Civic Auditorium. This
purchase will be charged to account number 10- 400 - 621 - 000 -322,
Civic Auditorium Building Structure Maintenance, which is budgeted
at $24,410.00.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to install or repair
door control equipment, proposals were received and publicly opened
and read in the office of the City Manager November 3, 1977. Pro-
posals were mailed to sixteen (16) potential bidders and notices
were advertised in accordance with city charter and municipal code
provisions. Three (3) bids were received, one of which included
an alternate, as listed on the attached summary.
The City's proposal encourged use of parts taken from replaced
door openers to be used in effecting repairs to the seven (7)
openers remaining and indicated a preference for rebuilt door
closers. Bidders were not limited to specific brands.

The alternate bid of La Tourette Company, Inc., was the lowest
submitted and includes an approved alternate brand of door opener
and rebuilt door closers.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to La Tourette Company,
Inc., as the lowest and best bidder, in the amount of $5,337.00,
including tax.
