SUBJECT: Ordinance Granting a Community Antenna
Television System Franchise to Theta
Cable of California
Introduction
This report transmits the attached ordinance
which, if adopted, would grant a community antenna television
franchise to Theta Cable of California.
Background
On March 14, 1967, the City Council adopted
Ordinance No. 734, which provides for the granting of
franchises for community antenna television systems.
Thereafter, by Ordinance No. 756, the City Council
granted a- community television system franchise to Theta -
Cable of California. This grant was for a period of ten
(10) years from November 23, 1967. Thus, the previously
granted franchise will expire on November 23, 1977.
At the Council meeting of October 25, 1977.the
Resolution of.Intention to Grant a Franchise, No. 4936
(City Council Series), was adopted. At said meeting, a
public hearing was set for'-November 22, 1977 on the proposed

grant of the franchise..

Not applicable.
Recommendations
It is respectfully recommended that the City Council—,
'introduce the attached ordinance for first reading and public
hearing, and thereafter return the attached ordinance granting
the franchise for second reading and adoption. J
