R10196City Council Meeting February 6, 2007 RESOLUTION NUMBER 10196(CCS) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING PARKING RATES FOR THE CIVIC CENTER PARKING STRUCTURE WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica is authorized to set rates for parking facilities by resolution; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica is opening a new parking structure at the Civic Center to provide additional monthly parking spaces as well as short -term parking for Civic Center and other downtown visitors; and WHEREAS, parking fees encourage turnover of short -term parking spaces and provide an incentive for employees working in the area to commute using mass transit, bicycles or walking; and WHEREAS, based on market considerations and the need to provide revenue to offset operating costs of parking facilities, the City Council has previously established parking rates for monthly parking at the Civic Center and downtown parking structures and for short -term visitors at on- street meters; and WHEREAS, parking rates for the new structure should generate the revenues needed to maintain and operate the new structure; and 1 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The following rates, inclusive of applicable taxes, are hereby established for parking in the Civic Center Parking Structure: Monthly Parking $82.50 per month Short -term parking $1.60 /per 20 minutes Daily Maximum $8.00 SECTION 3.
