13 -B: Request of Councilmembers Davis,.McKeown, and Vazquez that the
Council authorize staff, as part of continuing work on the Bergamot Area
Plan, to explore options for creating a "high affordability housing"
requirement as part of the Plan, congruent with Section 630 of the City
Charter and with City staff's statement in the Bergamot Area Plan report to
the Planning Commission on December 12, 2012, that "Staff's analysis has
concluded that to make living in the plan area a genuine choice for 75% of
the employees, rent levels would need to be between $1000 to $1500 per
month for a single or one bedroom unit "; and return to Council as soon as
possible with recommendations.
