The public hearing was opened upon the budget of the City of Public hearing Santa Monica for the fiscal year 1973 -74 as recommended by the City Manager City Budget and submitted to the City Council on May 25, 1973. - 73 -74 The following persons spoke: Gary Schwedes asked questions regarding various items and suggested additional staff for the Council; Eunice Seward, Betty Hiteshew and Gene Nelsestuen - additional Family Service funds; Marion Butler, George Taylor, Michael Petretta, Betty Shirk, Betty Cardona - funds for a new Animal Shelter; Sharon Levin - more funds for Santa Monica Youth Orchestra; Ann Funk - funds for Santa Monica - Westside Volunteer Bureau; Mark Baker - opposed any expenditure for additional Council staff; J. Ray Gallagher - urged additional funds for the Police Department, Paramedic program, opposed Chamber of Commerce funds; Howard W.
