m-041073Lawrence Hoffman (Santa Monica Pier Businessmen's Assoc, requested that the order to demolish the Newcomb Pier be rescinded. Mr. McCloskey moved to rescind all action subsequent to the Council - manic decision of January 9, 1973. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Hoover and lost with Councilmen Hoover, McCloskey and Trives voting "AYE ". David Shulman urged that some thought be given toward specific goals for municipal services and the budgeting for same. Michael A. Petretta suggested that the Administration explore funds that might be available for City uses for increased police protection. Mr. Reidy moved to file the resolution, adopted February 27, 1973, by the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce ur ging that the selection of one of the developers that submitted plans for the enclosed mall be made at an early date. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Hoover and carried unanimously. Mr. Reidy moved to approve the list of persons (fifteen) recommended for appointment to the Beach Area Study Committee in accordance with Resolution No. 4335 (CCS). The motion was seconded by Mr. Dituri. Mr. Trives moved to amend the motion and have each of the other six Council members appoint one additional person to the committee. The motion was seconded by Mr. Rinck and lost with Councilmen Gabriel, Rinck and Trives voting "AYE ". Beach Area Study (Beach Area Study Committee): L107d Allen, Lawrence Block, Charles T. Davis, Committee members Franco Erspamer, Wayne Harding, Joseph Hager, Cameron Hoff, Frank Jamison, Archie Morrison, Raymond J. Mr. Reidy (Member, South Coast Regional Commission) announced that the Commission had approved the exemption for Redevelopment Projects 2 and 5 and had moved Project 1 from the requests for exemption so that the program should move ahead. At 12:40 o'clock A. M., Wednesday, March 28, 1973, Mr. Reidy moved to adjourn in memory of Margaret M. Jeffries who passed away recently, wife of Stephen. P.
