Executive Summary
The City of Santa Monica was recently awarded a Local Hazard Mitigation Planning
Grant in the amount of $18,750. This grant will be used to hire a contractor to update
the City of Santa Monica's Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. As part of the grant award
process, the City of Santa Monica must submit a "Designation of Applicants' Resolution"
authorizing an agent on behalf of the City to execute this grant and future grants
Discussion
The Local Hazard Mitigation Plan is required in order to apply for disaster mitigation and
recovery funding prior to and following a disaster. The !'Designation of Applicants'
Resolution" affirms the authority of the City Manager to accept this grant and future
grants. This document is required by the California Emergency Management Agency in
order for grant funds to be released. Once the" Designation of Applicants' Resolution"
is returned to the California Emergency Management Agency, the Office of Emergency
Management will proceed with the Request for Proposal process to hire a contractor to
assist in the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan update.
