Subject: Reject Bid for the Purchase of Police Motorcycles
Recommended Action
Staff recommends that the City Council reject Bid #3081 for the purchase and delivery
of nine new motorcycles and direct staff to re- advertise the bid at a later time.
Executive Summary
On January 24, 2012, one bid was received from Long Beach BMW Motorcycles in the
amount of $251,669 for the purchase of nine new motorcycles for the Police
Department. Staff recommends rejecting this bid because the Police Department is re-
evaluating the type of motorcycle it uses for motor operations.
Discussion
In December 2011, the City published a Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver nine
new motorcycles for the Police Department. The Notice Inviting Bids was posted on the
City's online bidding website and advertised in the Santa Monica Daily Press in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. One bid was received
and publicly opened on January 24, 2012, as follows:

Staff recommends rejecting this bid because the Police Department is re- evaluating the
type of motorcycle it uses for motor operations. Staff also recommends rebidding the
purchase of new motorcycles at a later time.
