A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE CITY
TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMMUNITY ENERGY
PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM
WHEREAS, The Community Energy Partnership is an energy efficiency
program funded by California utility ratepayers and administered by Southern
California Edison ( "SCE ") and Southern California Gas Company ( "SCG ") under the
auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission (the "CPUC "); and
WHEREAS, on October 1, 2009, the CPUC authorized certain energy
efficiency programs, including the 2010 -2012 Community Energy Partnership
Program (the 'Program "), to be delivered to California utility customers for the years
2010 through 2012; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica (the "City ") had previously participated
in the 2006 -08 and 2009 Community Energy Partnership Program; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Program is to deliver effective energy
efficiency programs that forge positive relationships, motivate communities to reduce
environmental impacts and promote sustainable cities; and

WHEREAS, the Energy Coalition, SCE, and SCG have demonstrated their
ability to work with Southern California municipalities, and with the City since 1998,
to successfully implement energy efficiency programs and achieve energy savings
for their communities; and
WHEREAS, participation in the Community Energy Partnership Program
entitles the City to higher rebates and incentives for municipal energy efficiency
upgrades; and
WHEREAS, all Community Energy Partnership Program projects in the City
will be coordinated through an appointed City staff liaison to ensure that proposed
projects meet the City's intended energy efficiency goals; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City shall participate in the 2010 -2012 Community Energy
Partnership Program and shall work with The Energy Coalition, SCE, and SCG to
implement the Program in the City.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution,
and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
