Background - Electrician At the request of the Director of General Services, Personnel studied the position of Electrician to determine if a separate classification Traffic Signal Electrician is warranted. Based on our findings, a .separate class- ification is not warranted, but specification revisions to clarify the signal duties are necessary. In conjunction with the study a salary survey was conducted which indicates that our salary for Electrician has fallen below competitive market rates and should be increased from .$1848/month E-Step ($1977 with PERS) to $1940/month E-Step ($2070 with PERS. Because this salary change causes an undesirable compaction with Traffic Operations Supervisor, it is recomti-nencied that the salary for that position be increased frora $2011/month E-Step to $2160/month E-Step. Background - Equipment Operator I and Sanitation Collector These specifications have been revised to accomodate minor. variances in duties between positions assigned to the Recycling Center and those in other divisions. The changes include operating a forklift and keeping simple records. No salary change is involved. - Water Construction and Maintenance t Water These specifications, used in the Enterprise Section of General Services, have been retitled from "Supervisor" to "Superintendent" and updated to more accurately reflect duties perfon~ed.
