Resolution Establishing Salary for Sian Painter
Introduction
This report requests adoption of a Resolution establishing the salary
for Sign Painter.
Background
In September, 1980, the City undertook a salary survey of skilled crafts
positions which resulted in salaries for several positions being adjusted
upward. Painter was one of the positions adjusted. Inadvertantly no
adjustment was made for the Sign Painter classification which historically
was set 5% above Painter. The Director of Ceneral Services has requested
that Personnel study the salary for Sign Painter and implement any ad-
justment indicated. Both the history of the Sign Painter salary and an
external survey show that the position is currently undercompensated.
Adjustment from $1,637/mo E-Step to $1,818/mo E-Step is recommended. The
proposed change was discussed with the Statewide Employees Association.
They agreed that the adjustment is appropriate.
Recommendation
It is recommended that Council adopt the attached Resolution establishing
the salary for Sign Painter at an appropriate level.
