SUBJECT: Amendment to Salary Resolution No. 4646
Introduction
The Housing P~ehabilitation Coordinator is a new position.
for which the City Council has approved funds in the:
FX 77-78 budget. The job specification for this
position was approved by the Personnel Board on
August 24, 1977.
Background
The Housing Rehabilitation Coordinator will coordinate
housing assistance-activities in the Grants and-
Community Services Division of the Environmental
Services Department. The position's duties will
include preparing budgets and funding applications far
federal and state housing program grants, and ad-
ministering federally subsidized housing-rehabilitation
loans.
A study was conducted to set the salary for the Housing-
. Rehabilitation Coordinator and none of the twenty-three
cities surveyed had a comparable position ._ In most
cases, the person who performed the duties of the Housing
.Rehabilitation Coordinator performed additional duties
and/or supervised a staff. In some cities, there were
several positions which, in combination, covered the
duties of our proposed position.

The duties of Housing Rehabilitation Coordinator were
analyzed and found to be similar to those of the
Departmental Administrative Assistant position with
the City of Santa Monica, with the addition of the
requirement for knowledge of and ability to prepare
housing grant proposals, Because of this special
requirement; the suggested salary for the Housing
Rehabilitation Coordinator is $1,282 - $1,583
($15,384 -.$18,996 yearly), which is slightly higher
than the range for Departmental Administrative
Assistant, which is $1,24II - $1 541 ($14,97E _
$18,492 yearly),
Reco~iendation
It is recommended that the City Council approve the
attached job specification and the resolution amending
Salary Resolution DTo. 4646,. creating the position of
Housing Rehabilitation Coordinator.
