sr-021379-6eT0: FROM: SUBJECT Santa Monica, Calif°~nia, January 30, 1979 P4ayor and City Council City Staff Job Classification Specifications Introduction This report transmits one new and one revision in City job descriptions approved by the Personnel Board on January 24, 1979. Background As part of the Personnel Division's job classification revision program, one new job description has been written and one job description updated, with discriminatory titles and other non-job related references to gender eliminated. The new specification, Clerical Trainee, was suggested because of the difficulty in recruiting skilled applicants for clerical positions. It will be an as-needed classification which will have Affirmative Action value in that it will offer minorities and women the opportunity to acquire clerical skills through on-the-job training and thereby create a career ladder to higher clerical positions in the City service. Recommendation It is recommended that the Council adopt a motion ratifying the references job descriptions Prepared by: R. N.
