Introduction
C~?~C~
A job specification for Plumber Trainee was approved
by the Personnel Board on September 27, 1978.
Background
Because of the longstanding difficulty in recruiting
journey-level Plumbers for the Public Facilities Maintenance
Division of General Services, the position of plumber
Trainee has been suggested. It will be an entry level
position, and, with the present position of Plumber,
will form a career ladder within the City's classification
system. This will have Affirmative Action value in that
it will offer minorities and women the opportunity to
attain journey-level skills through on the job training.
As a result of a comparison of the relationship of trainee
to journey-level classifications in other skilled trades
within the Gity, it is recommended that the salary for
Plumber Trainee if approved should be 51,161/month, E-step
($13,932/yearly).
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached
resolution amending Salary Resolution No. 4646, creating
the salary range for Plumber Trainee.
