This report transmits for adoption two resolutions--

one appointing Charles Kent P4cClain City Manager, the other
providing for his salary and benefits.
Background
In a confidential personnel session, the Council
appointed Charles Kent McClain, currently City P4anager of
Flagstaff, Arizona, the City Manager of Santa Monica, effective
January 22, 1979, and agreed-upon his .salary and benefits. The
attached resolutions implement this Council action.
Alternative Solutions
Not applicable.
Recommendation
It is respectfully recommended that the Council adopt
the attached resolutions appointing Mr. PdcClain City P4anager
and providing for his salary and benefits.

The appointment, salary and benefits of incoming City
Manager Charles Kent McClain were covered in one resolu-
tion under Agenda Item 4A in the packet that caas delivered
to the Council yesterday. The appointment and the salary
and benefits have now been split into two resolutions and
the resolutions are attached for Council review.
