StiPJECT: City Clerk Salary Survey ,
A survey of 13 cities in the Los Angeles area reveals an
average monthly salary for City Clerk of $2325. Six of
these cities pay a portion of the employee's contribution
to PE RS, and ore city contributes to Social Security on
the employee's behalf. When these contributions are added
to the salaries, the average monthly salary increases to
$2455 (chart attached).
The level of responsibility assumed by the City Clerk
depends largely on the city's size rather than on variety
of duties. Only 4 of the 13 surveyed cities are comparable
in size to Santa Monica (population approximately 100,000).
These are: Burbank (92,000), Pomona (87,000), Pasadena
(113,000), and Do~~mey (90,000). The adjusted average
salary, including PE RS contributions, for these 4 cities
is $2431.
The salary of the Santa Z`ionica City Clerk is $2331 (E-step).
