This report is requesting the City Council to hold a public hear-
ing and adopt a resolution for the establishment of an undergrounding
utility district on Clover Field Boulevard between the Santa 2rfonica
Freetiray and Santa Monica Boulevard,
Background
Resolution No. x+662 (CCS}, adopted by the City Council on July 22,
1975, set August 2bth at 7:30 p.m., as the date and time for the public
hearing on the proposal to initiate proceedings for the establishment
of an Underground Utility District on Clover Field Boulevard bet~reen
the Santa Pdonica Freeway and .Santa T~fonica Boulevard
Section 7901 of the Municipal Code requires the City Engineer to
prepare a report for submission at said hearing containing data on
estimated costs to the City and affected property cti•rners; time reauired
to complete the project and remove the poles; and other pertinent factors.
the following is furnished in compliance with this requirement.
All costs of installing new underground facilities Traithin the
street rights-of-way, and all costs of removing overhead facilities
within said rights-of-way, will be borne by the Southern California
Edison Company, General Telephone Company a_nd Theta Cable of California.

Batiilevard .
All costs of installing underground conduit and junction bogies on
private property must be borne by the property owners affected. Edison
Company and General Telephone Company will install all cable in this
conduit at no cost to the property owner,
Theta Cable of California has informed us that there frill be
no costs to private property o*rrne-rs relating to their facilities.
We have been notified by .the Southern California Edison Gompany
and the General Telephone Company of the number, locations, and.
estimated costs of the ur~dergrounding work required on private property,
The property oti~rne-rs affected will be required to make their oim arrange-
ments for this t{rork prior to the utility poles being removed.
The owners of all abutting private properties have been notified
by letter, dated August ~, 1g75, from the City Clerk, of the August 26,
1975 public hearing, and also notifying them of their estimated costs
for undergroanding work on their property, if such Vrork is required,
Attached is a copy of this letter.
The estimated costs, time requirements, etcm as submitted by
the utility companies, are as follows:

In addition to the above costs, five City services for street
lighting and traffic signal systems will have to be converted to
underground services, for which State Gas Tax funds are available.
The property owners are being given 130 days to perform the work
on their property, in order to coordinate this undergrounding work with
the widening of Clover Field Boulevard scheduled to commence in April,
1976.

The City Council hold the public hearing on August 26, 1975, as
set by Resolution No. 4662 (City Council Series), and adopt the
attached resolution that orders the removal of poles and overhead.
