proceedings for the
District on Montana
Street.
(City Council Series), adopted by the City
1871, set April 27, 1971 at 7:30 p,m., as the
Ze public hearing on the proposal to initiate
establishment of an Underground Utility
Avenue from Seventeenth Street to Twenty-sixth
Section 7901 of the Municipal Code requires the City Engineer to
prepare a report for submission at said hearing containing data
on estimated costs to the City and affected property owners, time
required to complete the project and remove the poles, and other
pertinent factors, The following is furnished in compliance with
this -requirement.
All costs of installing new underground facilities within the
street right-of-way, and all costs of removing existing overhead
facilities from within said right-of-way, will be borne by the
Edison Company and/or the General Telephone Company.
The Edison Company has informed us that there are five private
services, one school service, and several City services (street
lights and traffic signals) presently served from this line that
will be required to be relocated in connection with the elimina-
tion of the existing pole line,
In some cases (see attached letter dated April 8, 1971) the private
service relocation required can be accomplished in either of two
ways; i.e.:
a) by converting to underground,
b) by rewiring to an alternate overhead source.

amount of estimated cost to them far this project.
The remaining properties on Montana Avenue are served from other
Edison Company lines and are not affected by this project.
The General Telephone Company has informed us that there are three
private services presently served from this line that will have to
be relocated in connection with this project. (See attached letter
dated 14arch 31, 1D71).
All parties involved - property owners required to provide under-
ground conduit, property owners not affected by the project but
within the District, the Unified School District, and the Edison
