F(;g FLLI Resolution No. 403$ (City Council Series), adopted by the City Council on March 24, 1870, set April 14, Ig70, at 'j: 30 p.m., as the date and time for the public hearing on the proposal to initiate proceedings for the establishment of an Underground Utility District on Stewart Street from Exposition Boulevard to Pico Boulevard. Section 7801 of the Municipal Code requires the City Engineer to prepare a report for submission at said hearing containing data on estimated costs to the City and affected property owners, time required to complete the project and remove the poles, and other pertinent factors. The following is furnished in compliance with this require- ment. All costs of installing new underground facilities within the street right of *rrray, and all costs of removing existing overhead facilities from within said right of way, will be borne by the Edison Company and/or the General Telephone Company. The Edison Company has informed us that there are three private services, one State service, and three City services presently served from this line that will be required to be converted to under- ground along with the elimination of the existing pole line (see attached letter dated March 31, 1970j. The service cable required will be furnished and installed by the Edison Company at no expense to the property owner, State, or City. However, said property owner, State or City will be required to furnish and install the conduit in which said cable will be installed. This latter work is not done by the Edison Company and will have to be arranged for with a private licensed contractor. The owners of the private properties involved, and the State Division of Highways, have been notified of the public hearing and the amount of estimated cost to them for this project. The remaining properties on Stewart Street are served from other Edison Company lines and are not affected by this project, >'~y ~ i -<r~ ~- Date: April 7, 1970 Page 2 Subject: Undergrounding of Utilities on Stewart Street, Exposition Boulevard to Pico Boulevard.
