SUBJECT: False alarm Ordinance
INTRODUCTION
This report transmits for second reading and adoption
an ordinance regulating alarm systems and charging service
fees for false alarms.
BACKGROUND

The first reading of this Ordinance was held on March
11, 1980, as Stem 8C, The ordinance was introduced at that
meeting with a few minor changes. These changes have been
included:
(a) Section 3961(d). The word. "automobile"
was changed to "motor vehicle".
(b) Section 3960(c). The definition of
"alarm system" now includes "visible" as well as "audible"
signals.
(c) Section 3960(j). The definition of "visible"
was added.
ALTERNATIVES
The City Council may adopt the ordinance as introduced,
modify it and reintroduce it, or reject it.
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Council
adopt the ordinance regulating alarm systems.
