SUBJECT: Report to Council relative to joint meeting of the Airport Cnarniission
and Recreation and Parks Commission on the subjeck of t}ae future
redevelopment of the Santa Monica Municipal Airport,
In accordance with City Council's direction that the Airport
Commission and Recreation and Parks Commission hold a joint meeting
on the subject of the Airport and its problems, and to give .the com-
munity ah opportunity to be heard--said meeting was held at the Civic
Auditorium on Wednesday, August 8th at 7:30 P. M.
P7umerous persons spoke, including representatives of
1) Property Owner's Associations of areas surrounding tlae
Airport.
2) Santa Monica Airport Association
3) Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce
/+) Federal and State Aviation officials
S) Piembers of the Santa Dionica City Council.
Following the closing of the public hearing it was the +inani-
mo~zS consensus of both corxzniss ions that further joint-study mee tind;s
were necessary in order £or the cor~rnissions to properly analysr., th^
complex airport prapoxCiea development problem and submit a workable
and desirable recommendation to the Council which would be in tkxe b¢:;t
interests df the comnninity.
Accordingly, ttae coamnissions have schedazled another joint zai~~nt~
ing for Wednesday, September 12, 1973, at 4:00 P,M. in the Council t:;lzazal>~~xa
at Gity Ftall.
