sr-111180-11bio~ NOV 1 1 1990 Santa Monica, California, November 3, 1980 T0: FROM: The Mayor and City Council City Staff SUBJECT: Request for Extension, Conditional Use Permit No. 284 U.P., Add Third Story to Office Building at 1137 Second Street, R4, Dinuba Avenue Corporation Introduction This is a request for an extension of a Conditional Use Fermit to add a third floor to a two-story office building at 1137 Second Street. Background On November 19, 1979 the Planning Commission approved a third-floor addition to the nonconforming office building on the following' conditions: 1. That the present parking lot be redesigned to accommodate 69 parking spaces (38 compact, 30 full-sized, and 1 handicapped) outlined in Mr. Linscott's report of March 1, 1978. 2. That a full-time parking attendant be provided on the premises between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the exception of legal holidays, to direct and oversee the parking. 3. That the proposed plan be approved by the Architectural Review Board. 4. That none of the 69 on-site parking spaces be leased to other than tenants of the building. 5. That no restaurant or other retail uses other than those secondary to and supportive of the businesses in the building, such as a dispensing optician, be located or operate within the existing and proposed structure. This decision was appealed to the City Council which upheld the Commission's action on January 1, 1980. The applicant now requests ~/® NOV 1 1 1980 Mayor and City Council -2- November 3, 1980 an extension of the right to enlarge, which will expire on Novem- ber 19, 1980 if not extended. The Conditional Use Permit is good for one year and may be extended by the City Council for good cause. The applicant requests extension on the basis that re-engineering problems are more complex than first believed. Recommendation It is respectfully recommended that the extension be granted for a period of cne year, until November 19, 1981. Prepared by JL:lk James Lunsford yam.. > t, ,.a-~ r ,, ::'' •.
